Merton College's Taste restaurant played host to a special dinner for local employers, to talk about the range of opportunities available to engage with young people. As guests tucked into a three course meal, prepared and served by our catering and hospitality students, they also heard about the apprenticeship and work experience options on offer through the College's Business Centre team.
Alongside sharing information with local businesses and employers, the event was also a fantastic opportunity for the College to say thank you to all of its partners.
The College has engaged with over 600 businesses and delivered training to nearly 1000 employees over the past 12 months.
One of our biggest successes is our Apprenticeship programme, which has enrolled over 500 apprentices, increased success rates to 79% (8% above the national average), and developed new apprenticeships in accounting, professional cookery, management, clinical services and medical administration.
Jamie Stevenson, South Thames College's Director of Business Partnerships, said: "The event was a great success and it was a fantastic opportunity to share the achievements of our students who are working in local businesses either as apprentices or on work placements, thank our partners, and inform about the opportunities available at South Thames College, which will hopefully lead to many more great relationships."
