The Careers and Employability team have supported 12 of our ESOL students to successfully complete a 6 week employability project.  Working together with the charity Family Action, the programme offered great opportunities to experience volunteering with AFC Wimbledon Foundation and a visit to the head office of an international advertising agency. Each week students developed a range of employability skills alongside growing more confident in their English Language abilities. The highlight was a really enjoyable day at Brands2Life head office where the students learnt how to develop their own brands and had the opportunity to practice their interview skills with the agency staff. A celebration lunch was held at college with a special message broadcast from the Brands2Life facilitators praising all participants and a presentation of certificates with complimentary AFC Wimbledon match tickets.

‘AFC Wimbledon Foundation would like to say a huge thank you to the students from South Thames College who attended a 3-week programme at Plough Lane. The students enjoyed a tour of the stadium, met staff from both the club and the Foundation and worked collaboratively to develop a promotional/ marketing strategy to help the Foundation raise awareness of our new 1000 More Fundraising Campaign. The programme culminated in the students heading out into Wimbledon to talk to members of the public about the Foundation and finally with a fun football session delivered by our coaches at Plough Lane. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing the students and staff at a home game soon.’
