Employability: CV Writing Workshop

This one-day workshop will help learners to prepare a CV and a covering letter relevant to a job sector of interest and impress a potential employer. Learners will understand how to keep their CV up to date and highlight their skills and experience which will then help them get through the first stage of the recruitment process and be shortlisted for interview. It is also an ideal starting point for learners that may not have had to produce a CV in the past, for learners wishing to change careers and those that have been out of work for some time.

  • Entry Requirements


    This workshop is open to anyone looking to change career or find out more about their employability options. Basic English and IT skills will be required.

  • Course Content


    At the end of this workshop students will:

    Understand the aims of a CV and cover letter Understand how to explore job profiles and labour market information Understand the sections of a CV The importance of references in a CV Different CV formats The importance of the covering letter Have an introduction to LinkedIn Be able to produce a CV and covering letter for a job application *Next steps

    Join other workshops at the college to further enhance your employability skills such as LinkedIn, job search and interviews skills. Also IT courses, distance learning and volunteering to gain valuable work experience and enhance your CV.

  • Course Structure


    The workshops are all delivered in groups ( approx 8-10 learners). Workshops run each term and last for 2 hours. They can be delivered in college or remotely. Learners are encouraged to participate in class activities and work in groups. Learners are given resources to take away after the workshops and are also invited to book a follow up one to one careers appointment if they wish.
