Adverse circumstances can have a negative impact on anyone's life, but children and young people are particularly vulnerable. They might face difficult circumstances such as the death or divorce of parents, domestic violence, or national and international disasters. These types of adverse childhood experiences can have an impact on their development and mental health, which may continue into adulthood and affect their life chances. This fully online course will give you the skills you need to support children and young people affected by adverse childhood experiences. You will gain insight into how to strengthen their resilience and empower them to overcome the challenges they face.

  • Entry Requirements


    You need to have lived in the EU for three years and be aged 19+. You will need to be confident with written English in order to meet the required standards.

  • Course Content


    This distance learning programme will enable you to further your personal and professional development and gain new knowledge and understanding.

    This course will cover the following:

    Exploring childhood and family structures Introduction to adverse childhood experiences Developing strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by adverse childhood experiences

  • Course Structure


    This course is fully funded, meaning there is no cost to you.

    On completion you will gain a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification.

    You can learn at a time that suits you without the need to attend college.

    The course is totally flexible so you can start whenever you wish.

    The course will be completed online and takes approx. 8 weeks to complete.

    You are welcome to take more than one course but you can only take one course at a time.
