This course is a great introduction to business and IT. It will enable you to have a taste of studying a range of business units and some basic IT unit too. You will gain two qualifications on this programme, a Level 1 Award in Workskills as well as an OCNLR Level 1 Certificate in Business. The course is for one year full time. Along side this programme, you will also study functional skills English and maths, as well as take part in a work experience placement, tutorial and enrichment activities.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    3 x GCSE's at any grade including Maths and English or previous vocational qualification.

  • Course Content


    The course consists of 10 different units, which include: Team work skills Time management skills Professional behaviour in the workplace Understanding business communications Creating business documents Understanding business and enterprise Generating and presenting a business idea Collaborative work using digital technology Creating and publishing webpages Internet safety

  • Progression Next Steps


    You can progress on to Level 2 in Business or Level 2 in IT. You could also progress on to an apprenticeship.

  • Course Structure


    The course will start with the workskills qualification and then move onto the Level 1 Certificate in Business. The course is graded as a Pass only. You will study English and maths along side this qualification, as well as taking part in tutorials, work experience and enrichment activities.

  • Assessment Details


    There will be a range of portfolio assessments, presentations, group work and some tests.
