Welcome to Employability and Work Experience/Industry Placements

At South Thames Colleges Group we put a big emphasis on preparing students for Employment.
Our two main initiatives are:

  • Developing Employability Skills
  • Meaningful Work Experience or Industry Placement

Employers

We work with many employers including the NHS, United Living Construction and many more. COULD YOU HELP? We are not looking for a huge commitment. We are trying to build up bank of employers to enhance our employability programme either for work placements or other employability activities. Are you looking for apprentices or do you have a vacancy to fill?

Employability Skills

We offer employability fairs, mock interviews, employers briefs, site visits; as well as many virtual interactions and opportunities.

Work Experience

Work experience allows students to expand their knowledge of the world of work and enhance their employability skills.  They develop confidence and personal attributes. Students should secure their own placements but are assisted by the employability team. All students should complete 35 hours of work experience whether over a block week or one day a week for several weeks, unless they are on an Industry Placement.

Industry Placement

Students will be informed if they are enrolling on eligible courses which require Industry placements. Students should complete 315 hours or 45 days over the academic year.
Eligible courses are TBC

All placements must have Employer Liability Insurance and meet out Health & safety requirements.
