Christine Billa

christine billa mae case study 270

I first came to the College in September 2017 and took a Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools course. The College is really welcoming. The staff are all friendly, approachable and knowledgeable.

I am currently on a Supported Teaching and Learning Level 2 course. My tutor Debra Valentine is very supportive and every lesson is clearly thought out and delivered well.

I have also taken Distance Learning courses in 7 subject areas including Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties, Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Understanding Nutrition and Healthy.

I would recommend these excellent courses to all students who want to learn more about their subject area. It is such a good scheme that fits around everyone’s timetable.

This qualification will enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in primary, secondary or special schools.

It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs and communication and professional relationships

You will need to have a placement for approximatley 4 hours per week in a school working with children in year 1 or above. It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace,  written assignments or a task.
