Access to Higher Education at Merton College

 

If you are considering a return to education, or you want to improve your chances of career progression an Access course could be the answer. 
We offer a broad range of Access to Higher Education/Undergraduate courses which have been designed for adults aged 19+ who have been out of full time education for some time and are aiming to join university or undergraduate courses. Access courses are one year part time courses and are nationally recognised Level 3 qualifications, validated by the awarding body OCNLR (The Open College Network London Region).
You will be required to take GCSEs in English Language and Mathematics in conjunction with the Access course if you do not already have these qualifications at grade C/4 or above and we aim to give you this opportunity alongside the Access course.

An alternative route to University or Higher Education for students aged 19+ who have been out of education for at least a year, the Access to Higher Education Diploma - Nursing is designed to give adult students, who may have left school early or have been out of education for a number of years, the opportunity to develop academic skills, confidence and knowledge before applying to university.

BA Top-up Art & Design

This Art and Design BA Hons final year degree programme is offered as a top-up qualification for learners who have gained a relevant FdA, HND or equivalent qualification and who want to continue studying to Honours level.

 

FdA Art & Design

The Foundation Degree (FdA) focuses on 'making as thinking', with studio work at the centre of study. Learners will refine their own art and design work, forming a basis for confident and self-directed practice in the creative industries.

 

HND Business

This course is validated by Kingston University and is delivered at Kingston College through a series of core modules which introduce the student to the world of business, the range of functions and employment roles within business and the knowledge and skills required to be successful.

 

BA Business Top-up

Validated by Kingston University, this course is suitable for HND Business (and associated subjects) students wishing to top up to a full degree. Delivered through a combination of core and optional modules, this is an ideal route into junior management roles or as a gateway into post graduate education.

Tutorial sessions will help you with your UCAS applications and there is also a focus on the development of study skills to give you everything you'll need to succeed at degree level. You'll cover many different approaches to learning including research, observation, written assessment, peer assessment and individual and small group presentations.

 

Access to HE Computing

Access qualifications provide an alternative route to University or Higher Education for students aged 19+. The Access to Higher Education Diploma - Computing is for students who have a keen interest in the study of computing and a high level of commitment.
