On 15th October 2018, eight students from Merton College attended Merton’s Jack Petchey Foundation Awards Evening to collect their Jack Petchey Achievement Award, in recognition for their success both in and out the classroom.

On 15th October 2018, Merton College’s Hospitality and Catering Academy was delighted to host a masterclass for local schools competing in the Wandsworth Young Chef of the year Competition. The masterclass was designed to help the young competitors to prepare for the school heats and grand finale of the competition.

On 28th September 2018, the Hospitality & Catering Academy hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning at Merton College's Taste Restaurant, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, to support people living with cancer to live life as fully as they can. 

Merton Adult Education are delighted to be working in partnership once again with Merton Arts Festival 2018. Merton Adult Education based at Merton College are hosting the festival on Saturday 15th September where art, glass, pottery and embroidery students will display and sell their work. Level 1, 2 & 3 Hairdressing students put on a night to remember in the end-of-year creative Hairdressing showcase. The annual event took place in Merton’s commodious auditorium hall providing a suitably glamorous framework for what would prove to be a very classy evening. The College’s Hairdressing Academy provided most of the things from the invitations to the entertainment. A helping hand from Merton College’s very own Taste restaurant dealt with the catering aspect of the night - this was a Merton College event through and through, and all the better for it.

No sad music was played as the 29-year-old violin maker plunged from 8,000 feet across Snowdon in a wingsuit. A package of bravery, a wingsuit and a parachute helped him step into the Welsh air. It’s a special record making achievement for Sam at 60 seconds and no one has attempted such a stunt before over Mount Snowdon.
