From September 2020, degree-level students studying nursing, midwifery and some of the allied health subjects will receive a non-repayable and non-means tested grant of £5,000 a year to help with living costs.

Merton Adult Learning is delighted to announce it has just been rated “Good” and been awarded a Grade 2 by Ofsted inspectors in its most recent inspection. The provision provides adult learning opportunities for Merton residents and is delivered in partnership between Merton Borough Council, Merton College, and other providers.

Our Employability and Social Enterprise group, within Foundation Learning, have been running a number of stalls at the college to raise money for Brain Tumour Research UK.

Six of our Aurora Centre students received a visit from Siobhain McDonagh, MP for Mitcham and Morden, during their work placement at the Farm Road Pavilion. Aaron, Joe, Samuel, Julius, Tegan and Sultan welcomed Ms. McDonagh, who enjoyed looking at the work they were doing.

Students from our Hospitality & Catering Academy gained valuable work experience by hosting a food and drinks reception held at the American Embassy, in the presence of the American Ambassador and 180 VIP invited guests. First and second year students had just 90 minutes to prepare a bar, finalise a service agreement with the client and familiarise themselves with complex canapés.

The Taste restaurant at our College kindly let the Aurora team host their Christmas lunch. Steve Cannell – Deputy Head of Commercial, Creative and Professional Studies kindly lent his kitchen and restaurant area to the team. There was music, dancing and all round merriment by all. Students and staff enjoyed spending time with each other in a professional restaurant setting.
