Just before Christmas, our students from the Level 1 Professional Cookery City & Guilds Introductory Diploma course took part in the 2018 College Rotary Young Chef competition; in partnership the Morden Rotary Club. The competition is one of four stages in the lead up to the Grand Final in Leeds against other Young Chefs who represent other Rotary Club branches from around the UK.

On 6th December 2018, our learners from the Violin Making and Repair course received the visit and a masterclass from Ben Hebbert, the Chairman of the British Violin Making Association (BVMA), one of the foremost violin making associations in the world.

On the evening of Monday 3rd December, 9 of our first year students (5 x L2 Food & Beverage Service and 4 x L1 Professional Cookery) from the College’s Hospitality & Catering Academy served at a canapé and drinks reception for 180 invited guests,  at the recently opened American Embassy in Nine Elms, London.

In the second of our course spotlight stories, we spoke with Alex-Zain, a Level 3 Extended Diploma Computing & IT from our Computing and IT Academy.  He shares his experiences on his course and why he choose to study with us. 

On 15th and 21st January 2019, Merton College, the adult learning partner of Merton Council, are hosting two 1-day career workshops, based on career development.

We turn the spotlight to our students, who discuss their experience studying at Merton College. Up first is Jerome, a current NVQ Diploma in Hospitality Supervision & Leadership Level 3 student from our Hospitality and Catering Academy shares his insight on his course and why he choose to study with the College.
