Merton College, part of the South Thames Colleges Group currently remains open to provide care for learners whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and students with safeguarding, welfare needs and health and care (EHC) plans.

A large part of this provision is based at the Aurora Learning Hub, a specialist non-residential FE Centre for young adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, located at Merton College.

We are delighted to announce that the South Thames Colleges Group has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted inspectors at a recent inspection in February 2020. This follows a previous Grade 2 awarded in 2016.

The four-day inspection by thirteen Ofsted inspectors was carried out under the new Ofsted inspection framework, which puts a greater focus on students’ personal development and behaviour.

As part of British Science Week (6-15 March), we are supporting their 'Smashing Stereotypes' campaign to celebrate the diverse people and careers in science and engineering. It aims to encourage STEM employees to share their stories about what they do in their day-to-day work – to highlight the diversity of the workforce, the broad range of jobs and careers available to young people, and that scientists are just like other people.

As part of our support for National Careers Week, we are highlighting the value that industry placements and work experience provide to our students in equipping them with the skills needed for sustainable success in their chosen career path .

Following some press coverage of the Government’s introduction of T Levels over the next few years, we would like to reassure current and future applicants that our vocational courses will run as normal in September 2020. We are proud of our course offer and the outcomes our learners achieve, allowing them to fulfil their educational and career aspirations.
