Introduction

IELTS is the worlds leading English language test, accepted by employers, universities and professional bodies in English-speaking counties worldwide.

This is a 10 week introduction course to all 4 parts of the IELTS examination - reading, listening, speaking and writing - and to the different types of tasks which the IELTS examination involves.

Materials

There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).

Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.

Assessment

The course assesses speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and is informally assessed in class and at home through set activities and ample practice papers. Students wishing to take the IELTS exam will be advised of the external exam arrangements and the exam fee.

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for students who have an intermediate level of general English. Students wishing to complete the course are required to complete a pre-enrolment IELTS assessment.

For our Merton College, any new students will need to complete a pre-enrolment form before starting this course. Please download the form here.
