Introduction

If you're considering a career in counselling or want to enhance your role in the work place, youll learn a range of counselling skills on this course. At the end of the course you should be able to apply the skills you have learnt in a counselling session and understand their relevance to practice.

Topics include:

  • Theory and tutor led group discussions
  • Triad skills practice
  • Personal development group.

Structure

As well as being introduced to the basics of relevant counselling theory you'll focus on developing a range of counselling skills and developing self awareness as a practitioner.

Materials

There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).

Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.

Assessment

Includes self-assessment and peer evaluation. You should schedule around two hours per week of personal study time outside of the normal hours to enhance your own development on the course. You must pass both the internal and external assessment.
