This qualification prepares learners to become Early Years Educators enabling you to work with and care for children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
Units relate to promoting children's care and education and include:
Child development from conception to seven years
Children's health and well-being
Providing safe environments for children
Play and learning
Understanding children's additional needs
Observation, assessment and planning
Supporting emergent literacy and maths
Preparing for school readiness
- Reflective practice for professional development
You will need to complete placements with a wide range of age groups
25 hours for children between 0 -1 year 11months
133 hours for children aged 2 - 2 years 11 months
- 192 hours for children aged 3 - 5 years of age
You may have to pay for a DBS check. You will benefit from 1 or 2 text books roughly £20-£30 each.
You will be assessed in the work place by your assessor and complete written assignments. You will also carry out a longitudinal study.
You will need to attend an advice and guidance session for literacy and numeracy. You will need to have a level 2 qualification or experience in the work place.
To be included in setting ratios at level 3 you will need to have A-C for English and Maths or Functional Skills level 2 .
