Introduction

The course will begin with simple forms and develop compositions with still life fruit and flowers and landscape subjects, blending techniques, use of tinted paper, layering and mark-making building a pastel painting, some gestural expressive work and a personal project, contextualised with artist examples.

Materials

Chalk/soft pastels, sugar paper/pastel paper, fixative (paper needs a rough enough surface to hold the pastel) If in doubt wait until your first class where your tutor can explain and show examples.
