Prepares students for transition from the Supported Learning Provision to Level 1 vocational areas.
For learners who may need support prior to entry into a Level 1 programme.
Learners will benefit from the support of a specialist team where they will complete their English and Mathematics qualifications in addition to building on existing skills and achieving new targets.
This course runs over 3 days each week, helping students develop knowledge, understanding and skills needed to manage life and future opportunities. Includes practical sessions in vocational subjects, English and Mathematics delivered at the appropriate level for the individual. Personal learning programmes are designed to suit the learner in their choice of career path to aid progression.
Assessment is completed via a portfolio of evidence, which may include observation, Q & A, Practical or written assessments. Functional Skills assessments will take place throughout the year as appropriate to the individual. The students will work towards gaining an OCR qualification.
Learners should be working at Entry Level 2 or above and need a commitment to completing the course. Suitability for the programme will be assessed both before joining and during the first four weeks of the course.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
