Christine Billa

I first came to the College in September 2017 and took a Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools course. The College is really welcoming. The staff are all friendly, approachable and knowledgeable.

I am currently on a Supported Teaching and Learning Level 2 course. My tutor Debra Valentine is very supportive and every lesson is clearly thought out and delivered well.

I have also taken Distance Learning courses in 7 subject areas including Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties, Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Understanding Nutrition and Healthy.

I would recommend these excellent courses to all students who want to learn more about their subject area. It is such a good scheme that fits around everyone’s timetable.

This course is being taught online during the Summer 2020 Term.

This course is for people who are thinking of working in a school and want to find out about the teaching and learning environment in schools.

The course consists of 3 mandatory units: Communication, Health and Safety and How Schools are organised.

There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).

Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.

You will be required to complete some written work to achieve this qualification. A work placement is not required.
