Introduction

This course will kick start you off into the hairdressing industry, whether learning for fun - to improving your hairdressing knowledge or wanting to take the next career move and step into the hairdressing. This course provides the basic fundamentals in hairdressing and will place you onto the platform which is required on a Level 1 to Level 3 in Hairdressing and Barbering.

Course Contents
(Section 1)

  1.  The importance of Health and Safety (Risks and Hazards - how to recognise and reduce them) within the industry and how it can influence services carried out
  2.  The importance of Health and Safety (COSHH and Sterilisation - identify how to handle, store/dispose of products) within the industry and how it can influence services carried out
  3.  The importance of Health and Safety (PPE & Posture ) within the industry and how it can influence services carried out.
  4.  The importance of Health and Safety (RIDDOR and Electricity at work ) within the industry and how it can influence services carried out.

(Section 2)

  1.  The basic structure of hair (Growth Cycle of hair) - learners will be able to identify the structure of hair/follicles and stages/hair growth rate
  2.  The basic structure of hair (Classification, Characteristics of hair and Face Shapes) learners will be able to identify different hair types, structure of hair and factors that can influence services
  3.  The basic structure of hair (Common Scalp Disorders/Baldness) learners will be able to identify different hair types, structure of hair and factors that can influence services

(Section 3)

  1.  Hair care and treatments (Hair Treatments) - learners will be able to identify styles, products to choose for shampooing and conditioning the hair
  2.  Hair care and treatments (Scalp Massage Services) - learners will be able to identify the x5 different scalp massaging techniques and their purposes
  3.  Hair care and treatments (Products and their uses) - learners will be able to look at styles and identify products and their usages.
