This course is designed as a practical introduction to working on and restoring furniture and will cover many of the main areas and techniques required for repair and refinishing.
Topics covered include:
Dismantling furniture releasing and cleaning joints
Veneering and Marquetry
Re-making / repairing joints
Glues types, properties, preparation, uses and application
Cleaning old surfaces chemical and mechanical- the controlled approach
Reducing stains and water marks
- Polishes Wax / French polishing
Students to bring their own pieces of small to medium pieces of furniture, there may be a charge for materials.
Your tutor will give you feedback and advice. You'll also complete self assessment and homework.
No formal qualifications are required.
