A Merton College Prince’s Trust Team Programme graduate met HRH Prince Charles as part of an ITV documentary celebrating 40 years of the Prince’s Trust.
Rebecca Blythe joined the Prince’s Trust Team based at Merton College last year as she suffered from depression and social anxiety, making it difficult for her to even step out of her front door.
After spending 12 weeks on the course which focuses on improving confidence, motivation and social skills, Rebecca enrolled on another Prince’s Trust programme ‘Get Into Retail’ with Marks and Spencer, which is designed to give young people the extra skills needed to secure a job in the sector.
It was Rebecca’s positive experiences with the Prince’s Trust which saw her speaking to the next in line to the throne, who founded the charity aged 27.
Rebecca was only a handful of Prince’s Trust students chosen to feature in the documentary, which saw Ant and Dec follow HRH for a year as the charity celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Visiting Rebecca at her deli counter in Marks and Spencer the film showed how hard she has worked, and the company was so impressed with her she was offered a full-time position. Rebecca has continued to flourish in her role and was recently promoted to Shift Manager of her department.
