What is Train to Gain?

Giving your staff up-to-date, high quality training will increase their loyalty and motivation. It'll also help your business to thrive and provide you with a powerful workforce. Amazingly, it might not cost you a penny!

Train to Gain is a fantastic training initiative that's been launched by the LSC (Learning & Skills Council) to improve the knowledge and skills of our country's workforce.  The scheme is designed to identify training needs or business development, agree a training package that is tailored to your needs and find the appropriate funding. The training can be carried out to suit you - at your premises, at college, or another location.

There are lots of good reasons to take advantage of the Train to Gain initiative:
  • you'll get free and impartial advice
  • we’ll help find the most appropriate education programme for your staff, including NVQs and other essential certification
  • you can agree a training package that’s tailored to your employees and company
  • we’ll help you find the funding for the training
  • we'll support you and your staff every step of the way!

Who is eligible to participate?

  • All learners must be over the age of 19 and hold a contract of employment at the start of training.
  • They must be live and work in the UK
  • Although the funding is predominantly for those who do not hold a full Level 2 qualification (5 A-C grades at GCSE or vocational equivalent, some staff will be allowed to do a Level 3 course under Train to Gain.
