About A Levels

'''''''''''''''''students''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''students'''''''''''''''''A Levels are excellent entry qualifications for University courses and are also useful for going straight into jobs. They give you the chance to focus on 3, 4 or 5 subjects you enjoy and do well in, continuing on from GCSE to develop your understanding to an advanced level.  ''''''''''''''''students'''''''''''''''

To succeed at A Level a good background in GCSE is required. Entry requirements for A Levels are five A-C grades including Maths and English. For some A Levels, you will need to have gained GCSE at B or above in that subject. Some A Levels, however, such as Law and Psychology, do not require you to have taken a GCSE in that subject.  Applicants all receive an interview and details of entry requirements will be explained.

A Level English Literature

English Literature is a valuable A Level for anyone with a passion for drama, novels and poetry. It focuses purely on the study and appreciation of classic English texts from Shakespeare through to contemporary writing. It is highly regarded by universities and complements a range of A Level choices in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

A friendly and inspiring place to study

The Merton Campus is a relaxed and friendly place to study. We have a good mix of students here, from a lot of different backgrounds, and they all want to learn and do well. It is a place to meet new people and make friends, as well as a place to get qualifications and learn skills for your future. We give you the freedom to make the best use of your time but there is support for you if you need it. You'll have a personal tutor who will help you make choices about your future and give you advice on your work, assignments or exams. There are well-equipped studios and classrooms for subjects such as art, textiles and drama and dedicated science labs for biology, chemistry and physics.
