Welcome to the Musical Instrument Technology pages

Merton is one of the very few places where Musical Instrument Making & Repair can be studied to advanced levels. The college has been providing training in Musical Instrument Making and Repair since 1972. A high proportion of our students become professional repairers and restorers working for the many businesses in Britain and abroad or become self employed.

Others use the skills acquired to work in fields such as furniture restoration, cabinet making and craft teaching.

Our courses are all designed to enable students to acquire the skills and knowledge required to enter into the musical instrument trade. Some students are able to become self-employed, but most aim to join an established business.
